Name – Samuel Adams Summer Ale
Country – United States
Type – American Pale Wheat Ale
Appearance – Pours a clear yellow color with a big, foamy white head.
Smell – Big smells of lemon, pepper and honey.
Taste – A sweet lemony taste up front with a hint of honey. Finishes with a wheat and pepper taste to it.
It feels like only a few weeks ago that Sam Adams released the White Ale seasonal and now the Summer Ale is on the shelves in the second week of April. If this holds true I am expecting Octoberfest on the shelves in July. No exceptions Sam! I didn’t really mean to have to wheat beers in a row that is just how I picked them out of the fringe really. This is pretty good one. I like the taste of lemon instead of oranges that most wheats tend to have. The pepper taste throws it off a bit but it makes for something interesting.
Overall Grade – B

This is one of their products that I just don’t care for. I think there is too much Lemon Grass or something. If they had another seasonal to replace this one, they would have a good full-year line-up. This is just an opinion, but this one is the weakest link by far.
April 15, 2009 at 4:10 pmI can understand what you mean by that. And I do think they could do a better choice than this because the Winter Ale, White Ale and especially the Octoberfest are all really good.
