Weltenburger Kloster Asam-Bock

17 Apr

Name - Weltenburger Kloster Asam-Bock
Country - Germany
Type - Doppelbock

Appearance - Pours a pretty much dark brown in color with burgundy accents around the sides of the glass.  Big foamy, tan head.

Smell - Smells of bread and nuts with a hint of cherry.

Taste - Big roasted flavor with a sweet toffee taste in there.  Some hints of cherry in the taste as well.

After having the Mendocino bock a little bit ago I figured I would go for a big doppelbock from Germany and that’s exactly what I got with this.  Great balance throughout make for a really good beer.

Overall Grade – A-

I’m glad you found a good doppelbock, you were having a problem finding a decent one a while back, weren’t you? I just brewed one that is turning out pretty well, yum! Thanks for the comment on the Red Rye P.A.
