Aventinus Eisbock Cask Tapping Saturday

9 Feb

This Saturday, February 11th, at Coffee District in Delray Beach they will be tapping a special wooden cask of Aventinus Eisbock.  This super rare cask will be sure to go fast just like the last one that Coffee District had.  I am also hearing that some special kegs may be placed on the lines this night as well.

The cask will be tapped at 8 pm and last until it’s gone.  So get there early.

Holy Mackerel and Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza Dinner on Wednesday

30 Jan

Beer dinners rock, plain and simple.  You can get to have a number of great dishes paired up with excellent beer that just compliments each other more than high school sweethearts.  And the long standing pairing of pizza and beer is something that just needed to be explored.  Well Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza is teaming up with Holy Mackerel to present such a pairing.

This Wednesday night at the Coral Springs location of Anthony’s you will get four courses paired up with beers to offer a delicious dinner.  Just see below.

  • Fresh Mozzarella & Tomato salad paired with Magic Hat #9
  • Pork Ribs with Vinegar Peppers, Meatballs with Ricotta Cheese and Coal Oven Roasted Chicken Wings paired with Holy Mackerel’s Panic Attack
  • “Well Done” Pizza paired with Holy Mackerel’s Special Golden Ale
  • New York Style Cheesecake paired with Holy Mackerel’s Mack in Black

Plus ACFP founder Anthony Bruno and Holy Mackerel founder Bob Gordash will be in attendance for this special event.  The dinner is $30 and space is very limited so be sure to call (954-340-2625) to reserve your spot.  Things start at 7 pm.  I received a special invite from Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza and will be in attendance.

Jupiter Craft Brewers Festival is Saturday

26 Jan

The time is almost here for the 6th Annual Jupiter Craft Brewers Festival.  This Saturday South Florida Beer Week will wrap up it’s first (and very successful) year at South Florida’s biggest and best beer festival.

Bad news is that online tickets sold out weeks ago but the good news is there will be 1500 tickets given the day of at the gate.  They are $35 and cash only.  Now here’s some more bad news if you don’t have a ticket but are wanting to go.  You are going to need to get there early.  The pay at the gate line is usually ridiculously long very early.  To put into perspective I arrive (with tickets) last year around 11 am and the waiting line was already a few hundred deep.  So keep that in mind.

But this year is gearing up to be the best year yet with some old faces that have been missing and some new kids on the block.  I’m very much looking forward to the offerings from the Florida breweries that we don’t get distributed down here like Swamp Head, Bold City and Seven Bridges.  Plus new brewery Due South will be there pouring.  I must say I got a chance to try a couple of the offerings last night and boy are you all in for a treat.  Then of course you will have the awesomeness that is Cigar City and Funky Buddha.  Plus a ton more craft breweries from all over the country.

The festival starts at 1 pm at Roger Dean Stadium in the Abacoa area of Jupiter.  They will usually start letting people in around 12 or 12:30.  So have a good time and be safe.  Say hi if you see me.
