As I mentioned in my review of Corner Cafe and Brewery, I was on a beer-venture on Friday heading north to get some beers that I can’t normally get in my area. You see just leaving Palm Beach County to the north you are entering into a different distribution area and that means different distributors and different beers. After leaving Corner I headed two counties north into Saint Lucie County for my next stop.
Vine & Barley is just off of I-95 on Saint Lucie West Boulevard in Port Saint Lucie. I had never been here before but have seen many people come back with growlers of awesome stuff like Brooklyn Cookie Jar Porter and Brooklyn Blast and knew I just had to go by. The place is very easy to find as it sits on the end of a small plaza. It has a very homey feel to it inside that does have some coffee shop type qualities to it. There are some tables and chairs up front and then in the back is the bar with some more tables beside it.
Being that I walked in quite early in the afternoon there wasn’t many people there. I sat at the bar and chatted with the owner of the establishment, Mark. He is a very pleasant and helpful guy and you can tell that he has a love for craft beer. He is constantly bringing in the best beers he can get his hands on and doesn’t charge you an arm and a leg to enjoy it. I picked up a growler of BrewDog Punk IPA while there. The growler itself is $6, which he told me is his cost on getting them made so he makes nothing on those. You are then charged for three glasses of whatever you choose to have it filled with. My damage for a 64 ounce growler of Punk IPA? A mere $15. I also purchased a bottle of BrewDog Paradox Isle of Arran while there, which turned out to be the final bottle they had. Mark told me that they would be getting another keg of Paradox in shortly.
Now you are probably wondering if they have food here. Well they do. They have cheese and sliced meat platters along with a variety of desserts to choose from including New York style cheesecake and Tiramisu. Also according to their website their plaza mates, West End Gill, have created some dishes to match up well with V&B’s drink selections.
Now I do have to add that they have a large selection of wine as well but I don’t know a thing about wine so I don’t know what they have. This is MikeLovesBEER.com after all.
But if you are a beer lover in South Florida, or even in Central Florida, you should take a trip out to Vine & Barley. Great beer in a great atmosphere for an amazing cost. You can’t go wrong!

March 31, 2010 at 3:19 pmA great area trip to sample some different beers.
Jealous. I have yet to find a joint like this in Toledo.
March 31, 2010 at 3:47 pmI like what you said about distribution. Isn’t it silly? These asinine laws deprive us of beer variety.
@Phil – Where you going to be that you will be half way there?
@Jonathan – Yeah it really is a great place. My trip was a kind of spur of the moment type of thing.
@Nate – There are a few awesome places closer to me but this place rocks for getting the things I can’t normally get. If you do come down to Orlando this summer I will make the trip up there and take you to Redlight Redlight. That place absolutely rocks.
