This past Friday I found myself with the day off and nothing really to do. I had cleaned the house pretty good the day before so that was already out of the way. Whatever could a beer loving guy like myself do on a day off? I could go on a beer-venture, that’s what I could do.
The plan was to hit up a couple of places north of Palm Beach County where I could find beers that I am unable to get down here by my house. On the way up I decided to make a stop for some lunch and I chose the Corner Cafe and Brewery in Tequesta, Florida as that stop.
Corner is a little eatery on US-1 just north of Jupiter and very close to the county line of Palm Beach and Martin counties. I actually drove by it trying to find it as there is some construction right next to them in the plaza they reside in. But sure enough I found it. The place is pretty small but pretty crowded. I went around 1:30 in the afternoon and every table was full inside and out. There is small bar in the far left of the establishment that I found a seat at.
The Corner is quite known for their in house brewed beers. I had sampled some of their stuff at this past Jupiter Craft Brewers Festival. I went ahead and tried Gnarly Barley, their American Pale Ale on tap. It was a nice copper color with a lovely citrus hop aroma and taste. They also had a Kolsch, Hefeweizen and Brown Ale on tap as well. The Gnarly Barley won them a gold medal at the 2009 Florida Beer Competition so it has it’s creds to go with it. They also do make some specialty brews like IPAs, imperial stouts, pumpkin ales and Vienna lagers. Just ask your server if anything special is available. Here is the kicker on the brews, they are only $3.75. Yup you read that right. So you can get a good hand crafted beer for a killer price. Oh yeah and I forgot to mention, they have food too.
They server breakfast and lunch seven days a week and have dinner Tuesday through Saturday nights. They have a wide variety of different sandwiches, wraps, salads and entrees to choose from. I opted for the Santa Fe sandwich. A turkey sandwich with roasted red peppers, grilled onions, tomato and melted provolone cheese on a baguette. This came with a choice of a side and sweet potato fries just screamed out at me. It was all quite delicious I might add. And for a good sized sandwich with a great portion of fries $8 is a very good price I would say.
Overall I really enjoyed the Corner Cafe and Brewery. If you find yourself with an afternoon and want some lunch and a good beer then head over to the Corner in Tequesta. Then you can take a short drive over to the beach and enjoy the rest of your day.

March 30, 2010 at 11:15 amI love finding these little places. Looks like you’ve found a good one there. You can make it a regular stop now that you know how to find it.
March 30, 2010 at 11:16 am@Chalie – If you try any of their special brews be sure to let me know which ones and how they were. I didn’t know until I left that they might have had those hidden.
@Phil – Definitely a nice place to stop on in on an afternoon.
@Don – It is awesome to find little places like that. It is a bit of a ways away from me though. It is almost 45 minutes away.
March 30, 2010 at 11:20 amThis is a great place and Matt is a really great brewer. Last time I was there he broke out a blonde ale brewed with Jamaican ugly fruit that he dubbed, “Ugly Blonde.” Really tasty. I have only been up there for breakfast and lunch and the food honestly blew me away. Matt says the dinner is even better.
It is nice to see places like this exist down here and even better that Matt plans on expanding and putting out more delicious beers.
We should get a good group together and head up the next time he releases something special.
