Rogue Chocolate Stout

1 Jun

Name – Rogue Chocolate Stout
Country – United States
Type – American Stout

Appearance – Poured a bold black color with a light brown head that left some lacing.

Smell – Smelled like powdered chocolate, like what’s used to make chocolate milk.  Some roasted malt flavors are present.

Taste – A good milk chocolate tasted up front with some presence of roasted malts and a slight hint of coffee.

Pretty good all around stout.  It seemed a little thin in it’s consistency than typical stouts but that was fine and went with the sweetness of this one.  Real chocolate was used in the brewing of this and it comes through that way.  Well made stout.

Overall Grade – B

I actually have this one @ home and I just haven’t had a chance to try it yet. Sounds like a nice brew.

It was a really good one. Not as good as Ommegang’s Chocolate Indulgence but a very respectable chocolate stout.

I think your rating is about right. I recently drank a bottle of Bison Chocolate Stout that I had for a year or two and loved it. I personally think a lot of Bison.

I’ve never seen Bison before but based on being in California maybe I will see it when I go on my trip to Phoenix in July.

You really should try Bison’s Chocolate Stout, you might be able to get it when you go out there.
