Fat Tire Amber Ale

27 Jul

Name – Fat Tire Amber Ale
Country – United States
Type – American Red Ale

Appearance – Poured a clear amber color with a small white head that was gone rather quickly.

Smell – Slight toasted malt smell to it with some hops in the back.

Taste – Sweet caramel and toasted malts are the prominent flavors with some hop presence in the back.

When I was out in Arizona I went in knowing that Yuengling does not distribute out there so when I go to a normal restaurant that I would need to find something else to be my go to beer.  Luckily Fat Tire from New Belgium was quite accessible.  There is nothing fancy to this ale but it is quite drinkable.  It served it’s exact purpose for my trip as being the reliable easy to find beer.  It also is perfect for session drinking if that is what you are planning on doing.  Also I was recently told by an employee at my local beer store that New Belgium will be coming down to South Florida very soon.  Be on the look out for 1554.  I had a chance to sample that over there and can’t wait to have it again.

Overall Grade – B

I had a can of this stuff in KC. Yes, quite drinkable.
That’s one chilly mug you have there!

Yeah I knew it was chilled but didn’t realize how much until I took the pictures off the camera. I debated whether to wait to actually review it until I could take a better picture but just decided I would do it any way.

    frosted mug …

I have a bottle of this I’m going to be drinking soon. I try the mothership wit if you get a chance. I really enjoyed that one as well.

I really do look forward to trying all of their line if and when they start getting down here.

I also just realized I didn’t have you listed on my blogroll, how dumb of me. It’s up there now.

You’re very lucky that New Belgium will be distributing to Southern Florida. Last time I was in Arizona, I had Fat Tire and 1554 as well. Whenever I’m in a New Belgium distribution zone, I always try to pick up a 6 pack of the stuff (along with another favorite of mine Alaskan Amber).

I had Alaskan Amber as well when I was out there and found that to be a very good just every day beer. Again nothing special but nothing wrong with it either. Very easy to drink.

I have to say that some of their other stuff is much better than Fat Tire. It’s one of those beers that I enjoy much more on tap.

I know 1554 is pretty good and looking forward to having that again.
