Samuel Adams Longshot Cranberry Wit

2 Jun

Name – Samuel Adams Longshot Cranberry Wit
Country – United States
Type – Witbier

Appearance – Pours a hazy orangish color with a bubbly head that disappeared rather quickly.

Smell – Ever so slight smell of cranberry but some other smells of orange, lemon and yeast.

Taste – A citrus like taste with that taste of yeast and wheat bread.  Nothing really there for the way of cranberry.

This one is part of the Sam Adams Longshot series of home brewed recipes and while it is a pretty good wheat it just really doesn’t have much in the way of cranberry in it.  I really didn’t pick anything up on the taste and it was only mildly present on the smell.  So that leaves me rather confused.  If you are looking to get a good cranberry taste then you really won’t get it here but you do get a good wheat beer anyway.

Overall Grade – C+

I’m with you on this one buddy…I thought it was pretty terrible. In fact, I might have given it a D+. I thought the cranberry flavor was fake tasting, and the malt base was watery.

Some of the beers that won this are surprising. I knew that I should have sent something in. On the other hand, some are pretty decent. I know that Nate and I both liked the double IPA.

I really did like the Double IPA and I will be posting my review on that one tomorrow.
