    Brooklyn Local 2

    Name – Brooklyn Local 2
    Country – United States
Type – Belgian Strong Dark Ale

Appearance – Pours a deep red color almost like a black cherry color with a nice brownish to pinkish head.

Smell – Sweet granny smith apples with some spices, specifically cloves, in there.  A little bit of a smell of Belgian yeast.

Taste – Quite sweet with a sugar taste followed by apples again and yeast.  A little bit of a spice and slight bit of alcohol.

This is the newest of what I’m assuming will be a line of brews from Brooklyn.  I had the Local 1 before and now they have come out with the Local 2.  I enjoyed this one but not as much as I enjoyed the previous counterpart.  Not that there was anything wrong with this but it was just personal taste.

    Avery Anniversary Ale – Fifteen

Name – Avery Anniversary Ale – Fifteen
    Country – United States
    Type – Wild Ale

Appearance – Poured a clear amber color with a bubbly white head that wasn’t around for too long.

Smell – Possibly one of the most complex noses I’ve ever had in a beer.  Picking up granny smith apples, cherries, raisins, dates and some spices.

Taste – Much like the smell it is very complex with mostly all the same notes as the nose.  A little tartness to it is very nice and not much in the way of hops.  It was already a year old when I bought it so it may have subsided in that area.

This is the last in the reviews from my trip to Arizona.  I was absolutely shocked to see this on the shelf right next to this year’s anniversary ale.  I figured I had to pick this up and try it and quite glad I did.  There is just so many good things going on in this beer from the smell to the taste.  A very well thought out and made beer.  If you for any reason can grab a bottle in your area do so.  If it wasn’t on my trip I would have gotten another bottle to try and age more.

    Inversion IPA

    Name – Inversion IPA
    Country – United States
    Type – American IPA

Appearance – Pours a clear deep red color with big slight off white head.

Smell – Citrusy and piney hops with a slight bit of caramel in the back.

Taste – Pretty straight forward with the piney hops and a little grapefruit tasting hops as well.  Some sweet caramel to even things out.

As I mentioned this was a pretty straight forward IPA.  Kind of the typical one that you would expect for the style.  I by no means am saying that’s bad because I love my IPAs.  In my mind an above average IPA that does what it is suppose to do.
