Name – Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine Style Ale 2009
Country – United States
Type – Barleywine
Appearance – Poured a clear deep red color with a slightly tan head.
Smell – Earthy hops hit the nose with a smell of alcohol.
Taste – Dry hop taste with a definite alcohol taste in there as well. But slightly sweet.
I have been waiting for this monster to rear it’s head back into stores again and I finally caught it. Bigfoot is definitely a big barleywine. It will kick you in the teeth, kind of like the Bigfoot in the beef jerky commercials but less violent. But I must say that this one did not have as over powering of an alcohol taste to it like a lot of other barleywines. I really enjoyed this one and will probably go pick up another bottle to age it.
Overall Grade – B+
