Whirlwind Witbier

Name – Whirlwind Witbier
Country – United States
Type – Witbier

Appearance – Poured a hazy pale yellow color.  Very thin, bubbly white head that was gone very quickly.  I’m surprised I was able to capture it in the picture.

Smell – Very typical witbier smells with citrus, yeast and some spice.

Taste – Again the taste is pretty straight forward as well.  Crisp citrus taste with the yeast.  Some spice like coriander is present as well.

This was a good pickup for the summer.  Crisp, refreshing and flavorful.  This is a great beer for after a hard day of manual labor or if you are just out at the pool.  I would recommend this one pretty highly as it is very close to the traditional German ones.

Overall Grade – B+

This is another one I’ve been passing over – but I always stop to think about! On one hand it doesn’t sound too special, but on the other it sounds like it nails the style which is great actually.

Same here, Scott. I first got into craft beer last spring/summer and this style was full of gateway beers that I enjoyed and led me to the much heavier stuff later on. I haven’t purchased or tried many lately because sometimes it feels like a step backward, but I guess I should keep a more open mind.

Yeah this is a really good representation of a traditional German wit so I would highly recommend it.
