Burton Baton

Name – Burton Baton
Country – United States
Type – American Double IPA

Appearance – Poured a nice darker red with brighter accents on the edges of the glass.  Slightly tan head that was there for a little bit.

Smell – Smells of some citrus notes with caramel and oak standing out as well.

Taste – Great malty backing to it with flavors of caramel and raisins.  Some hoppy presences of citrus and floral hops.  Definitely an oak taste in there.

This is a special blend of Dogfish Head’s 90 Minute IPA and an English strong ale that is aged in oak barrels.  You definitely pick up the oak in this one and I found it enjoyable and not overwhelming.  If you aren’t big on the brews that are barrel aged then this may not be for you.  But if you feel adventurous and enjoy their 90 minute then go for it!

Overall Grade – B

i had this not too long ago…as it is with pretty much all of DFH brews, I enjoyed it. I do with the oak characteristics were a bit more pronounced though.

For me, had this on draft and in one of the Beer Brawls™ and I was lovin’ it! One of my favorite DFH brews. Gonna put one in the fridge for tonight (ipamonday) to see if my memory servers me right.

One of my favorites actually, and I think if you age it a little the oak becomes more prominent.

I’ll have to give the aging a try and see how that goes.
