    Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal Stout

Name – Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal Stout
    Country – England
    Type – Oatmeal Stout

Appearance – Poured an opaque black color with a big tan head.

Smell – Smells of roasted malts, oats and a very faint chocolate.

Taste – Roasted malts are prevalent with some chocolate notes and slight oatmeal taste in the middle. Very light in body compared to most stouts.

This has always been one of my all time favorite stouts but I just never got around to reviewing it until now. As I said it is lighter in body that a lot of stouts out there and that might add to my liking of it. Also the absence of too much of a coffee flavor makes me happy as well. One of my top 5 favorites of all time.

    Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier

Name – Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier
    Country – United States
    Type – Witbier

Appearance – Pours a hazy orange color with a small white head that was gone rather quick.

Smell – Slight blackberry smell of course but were not overly present.  Smells of wheat, yeast and spices present as well.

Taste – Again some slightly tart blackberry tastes up front but finishes off with a bit of a yeasty taste.

The gentleman at the beer store that told me about this said this is Boston Beer’s second time doing this one.  The first was just over board on the blackberry flavor and they decided to cut it back.  I can say it is definitely not overly sweet with the blackberry taste.  It was pleasant but couldn’t see myself having more than a couple in a sitting before the sugar just takes over.

    Strawberry Harvest Lager

    Name – Strawberry Harvest Lager
    Country – United States
    Type – Fruit Beer

Appearance – Poured a clear golden yellow color with a small white head that disappeared quickly and left no lacing.

Smell – Think of the Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake ice cream bar, that is exactly how it smells.  Strong strawberry sweetness and nothing really else.

Taste – Slight strawberry taste that is not over powering and is gone rather quickly.  Smooth and crisp.

I pretty much got this for the novelty purpose of it and didn’t expect anything really out of it.  I was pleased it was really bad and not just totally undrinkably sweet.  I could enjoy two at the most of this, and did have, before it would lose it’s appeal.

    Overall Grade – C+
