    Kerberos Tripel

    Name – Kerberos Tripel
    Country – United States
    Type – Tripel

Appearance – Pours a hazy golden orange color with a very small bit of a white head that is gone very fast.

Smell – Not a whole lot going on here.  It get some Belgian yeast smells and a faint bit of alcohol but that’s about it.

Taste – Some citrus sweetness with some bready qualities in there.  They yeasty quality is present as well as a bit of an alcohol burn at the end.

This was the final one of the Flying Dog Canis Major pack that I have not had and this was the least impressive of the bunch.  It seemed rather bland to me.  Not a lot going on in the nose or taste.  Other tripels I’ve had seem to have more going on.  Oh well we can’t win them all.  For a pack of four big beers to have 3 out of 4 be really good to me isn’t bad at all.

South Florida Beer Blog One Year Anniversary Party

Tomorrow at Abraxas in Miami Beach, FL Dave from South Florida Beer Blog will be celebrating the one year anniversary of his blog and what better way to do it with a bunch of great beers from Florida’s own Cigar City.  Here is a list of the CCB brews that will be on hand.

    ON TAP:
    Jai Alia IPA
    Patio Tool Irish Stout
    Humidor Series IPA

    BOTTLES:
    Big Sound Scotch Ale
    Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout

Pretty impressive right?  Well also add that if you purchase a bottle of Hunahpu’s you will get a free Cigar City snifter to take home with you.

There is bound to be a lot of other special beers going around that night so you best be there.  I will more than likely be attending so that should give you some extra incentive on going right?

The festivities begin around 8:00 pm and go until no one is there anymore.  See you there!

    10 Commandments

    Name – 10 Commandments
    Country – United States
    Type – Belgian Strong Dark

Appearance – Poured a very dark brown color with a nice sized tan head.

Smell – Sweet dark fruits, raisin is very apparent.  Slightly roasted smell and a Belgian yeast characteristic.

Taste – More raisin and other sweet dark fruits come out along with a hint of chocolate.  There is some cherry, honey and roasted malts that I pick up in there as well with the yeast character.

I first had this beer on my last trip to Pennsylvania and fell in love with it.  So when I made a mail order and saw they still had some of this wonderful winter treat I had to get it.  It is just as good as I remember and makes me curse that Lost Abbey isn’t available in Florida.  I would be stocking up on this for years to come.  Absolutely brilliant brew.
