Name – Dogma
Country – Scotland
Type – Spiced Beer
Appearance – Pours a clear copper color with a finger wide slightly off white head that leaves some lacing on the glass.
Smell – Interesting nose. There are malts but a lot of spices that I’m not really familiar with in there.
Taste – You get spices immediately that follows with a sort of cola like taste. You get some of the alcohol bite in there. But there is a lot more going on in here that I just can’t place.
When I had the chance to choose some BrewDog beers I picked this one up because it sounded interesting and boy was it. There was a whole lot going on in the taste of this. It says their are poppy seeds in it but to be honest I don’t know what poppy seeds taste like. Never had a poppy seed bagel in my life. I couldn’t help but get this cola taste in there that made me wonder if that is from the kola nuts used in the brewing. I’m glad I tried it but not sure I would go back to it. I might if I was going to share but I definitely couldn’t handle another bottle by myself. It’s a bizarre one to say the least from the crazy boys over at BrewDog.
Overall Grade – C+

April 2, 2010 at 8:36 amI wanted to try Rip Tide but it was past the best before date on it. It is a stout so I don’t know if there really is a best before date on it but it was almost 5 months past the date so I went with this.
