Prima Pils

Name – Prima Pils
Country – United States
Type – German Pilsner

Appearance – Poured a clear bubbly golden color with a big bubbly white head.

Smell – Woah, there are hops here!  You hear that everyone?  There are hops in a pilsner!  They are combined with a grainy and malty smell as well.

Taste – Earthy hops, grains, bread like malt backing, some spices.  Very crisp and clean.

This was my first taste of Victory since they just arrived down here in South Florida from Downingtown, PA, just a mere hour from where I grew up.  And all I can really say about Prima Pils is this is a pilsner, plain and simple.  It has full flavor and smell unlike your macro pils.  Very refreshing and easy to drink without having to be watered down.  Hands down the best pilsner I’ve ever had.

Overall Grade – A

    This is one of those “don’t think twice” about it beers that I buy over and over again. Truly a treat.

    I’ll have to revisit this one, I had it awhile back before I really was into appreciating beer. Thanks for the reminder!

    @Billy – You are 100% correct

    @Scott – Yes you definitely have to. I did the same thing with some beers I tried early on and after revisiting them I appreciated them more.

    Not a huge pilsner drinker, but the Victory Prima Pils is probably the best one I’ve had.

    Now that you have victory down in FL, you have some good beer coming you way. Storm king, Hop Wallop, Wild Devil to start with. Have fun!

      I had Storm King and Hop Devil, reviews coming soon, and look forward to trying Hop Wallop. We don’t have Wild Devil here yet. Not sure of the chances of getting that just yet.

    Prima Pils is a great session beer and a great american pilsner. It’s weird…we have a horrible beer selection around here, but Victory products are plentiful. I’d agree that the hops are earthy…I’d say the same of the malt flavor.
