Name – Bam Noire
Country – United States
Type – Saison
Appearance – Poured a very dark brown, borderline black, with dark red highlights along the edges of the glass with a big with head.
Smell – Yeast and dark fruits are the big smell here and pretty much all I was picking up.
Taste – Very dry yeasty taste with dark fruit presence and a little bit of some sour apple notes in there as well.
My first try of a Jolly Pumpkin beer is Bam Noire, which they classify as a dark saison. I agree with that but also the presence of the sour apple takes it close to a sour as well. A very different beer if you are expecting a normal saison but every enjoyable.
Overall Grade – B-

I love this beer! I concur on the “sour apple” flavor. So far, JP has yet to release a bear that does not have sour qualities.
I am making a trip to the brewery pretty soon here. Hopefully snag a bottle of their brewery sale only limited release “perseguidor.”
