Stone Imperial Russian Stout

Name – Stone Imperial Russian Stout
Country – United States
Type – Russian Imperial Stout

Appearance – Pours a very dark black color with a big light brown head.

Smell – Faint roasted malts with a slight bit of chocolate.

Taste – Roasted malts with a very slight coffee taste.  Nice dark chocolate taste with slight notes of toffee and caramel in there as well.

I was really happy that this didn’t have a big coffee taste to it like most other Imperial stouts tend to.  This also masked the alcohol taste very well.  I found it really enjoyable with a delicious taste to it.  I wish I had some chocolate to eat while enjoying this as it would have went well.

Overall Grade – B+

I had this on tap at a place called ‘The Rake’ in London. Tremendously good on tap. It was amazing that the only assertive Stout that I found in England was American. In the bottle, I think that I would agree with the rating.
