Steelhead Double India Pale Ale

Name – Steelhead Double India Pale Ale
Country – United States
Type – Double IPA

Appearance – Pours a very cloudy copper color.  You can see what looks like yeast floating around in it.  Very small bubbly head that disappeared quickly and didn’t lace the glass.

Smell – Some sweet caramel like malt smells with a big presence of grass like hops.

Taste – Slight malt taste upfront but then followed with big bittering hops and a bit of an alcohol bite.

The appearance of no real head disappointed me.  Even on the second bottle I had there wasn’t really one after thinking I may have done a bad pour the first time around.  It is definitely big on hops but not a big hop bomb at all.  The alcohol bite to it, especially near the end of the glass, got strong and took away from the rest of the flavors.  A slightly above average double IPA.

Overall Grade – C+

I drank Moyland’s Double IPA last night and enjoyed it quite a bit. I didn’t look on your reviews to see if you had it, but it is disappointing to be drinking a couple c+ beers in a row. Check out that Moyland’s some time and tell me what you thought of it.

I have never heard of Moyland’s before and can’t seem to find anything on BeerAdvocate about. I love me my Double IPAs and this one was definitely not up to the standards of like Lenny’s RIPA or Hercules.
