Name – Chimay Grande Réserve (Blue)
Country – Belgium
Type – Belgian Strong Dark Ale
Appearance – Dark redish brown color with a fizzy off white head that disappeared quickly.
Smell – Smell of caramel and slight smell of berries.
Taste – Extremely carbonated that gives a full feeling in your stomach. A nutty taste at first followed by a very strong after taste similar to that of Imperials.
I’ve had may co workers say Chimay this and Chimay that so I thought I would give one a whirl. The blue has the highest alcohol content of the three so that might explain the after taste that I didn’t like to much. The smell was nice and initial taste was nice but the carbonation just made me feel full to quickly and again I didn’t like the after taste. But I will not let this stop me from trying the other two Chimay brews in the future.
Overall Grade – C-
