Appearance – Pours a completely opaque ink black with a big tan head.
Smell – Cocoa in the nose and it is glorious.
Taste – Chocolate/cocoa taste is absolutely beautiful. Ever so slight roastedness and a very small alcohol hint.
This was the one that everyone said you had to get when Southern Tier came down and I’m so glad I did. This one makes every other beer that contains the word chocolate in it look like Yoohoo. So amazingly smooth and drinkable. Perfect substitute for hot chocolate on a cold night. I can’t wait til next year for this again. It gets the holy grail of grades.

Do you know they told me at Total Wine yesterday that since they don’t have any Young’s Double Chocolate Stout, they are steering people toward this beer as an alternate? That is genius, introducing a great US brewery to some new people. And it’s a slam dunk they are going to like this. But it’s bad for you and me with the extremely limited quantities coming, thinking selfishly of course!
