    Treasure Coast Beer Festival

So this coming Saturday I along with a few friends will be attending the first ever Treasure Coast Beer Festival in downtown Fort Pierce, Florida.  There will be over 50 types of beers offered there from brewers such as Samuel Adams, Brooklyn, Rogue, Sierra Nevada and many others.  It goes on from 1 pm til 5 pm and is $25 in advance or $30 the day of the event.  For more information go to the official site here.

You can be sure a review of the even will follow so keep your eye out for that.

    Left Hand Sawtooth Ale

Name – Left Hand Sawtooth Ale
    Country – United States
Type – Extra Special Bitter (ESB)

Appearance – A nice amber color with a frothy white head that stuck around for a good bit.

Smell – Malty and hoppy in smell but not to overpowering.  A tint of caramel smell to it as well.

Taste – Hoppy in taste yet sweet.  Not overly hoppy in the taste at all.  Smooth finish with no bad after taste.

I figured it was time to finally give a review to a Left Hand product after hearing and reading so much about their brews.  I honestly had no clue the type this was before opening it because it does not plainly say on the bottle.  I was very pleasantly surprised by it overall.  A nice smell lured me in and the crisp overall good taste and finish made me a fan.  I would recommend this to ESB fans.

    Overall Grade – B

Denver brewery presents … Obama beer!

How is it that a brewery can show their support for the presidential candidate of their choices?  Why simple, make a new beer and name it after them.  Denver, Colorado brewery Wynkoop Brewing did exactly that when they released their new German style maibock lager entitled Obamanator.  This was also quite a good decision on timing as well because of the Democratic National Convention being in town last week.

But don’t let the name fool you into thinking this is just a novelty beer.  Apparently the Obamanator is the real deal when it comes to maibock lagers.  I don’t know how long Wynkoop plans on brewing this and if it will only be a one time deal, seasonal or a year round thing.  I personally would like to try it but have no idea  if they even plan on distributing it nation wide.  But if you are in the Denver area you should check it out and if you want to review it I will post it on here for you.
