    Brooklyn Pennant Ale ’55

Name – Brooklyn Pennant Ale ’55
    Country – United States
    Type – American Pale Ale

Appearance – Poured a medium reddish amber color with a nice sized white head.

Smell – Smells weren’t to strong but some malts were there and I could smell a hint of cherry.

Taste – A light sweet malt flavor and some hints of biscuit with a very small amount of hoppiness in the finish.

This is my first Brooklyn beer I have officially reviewed.  I have had some of their stuff at festivals before.  While this one is clean and very smooth I felt it lacked some in flavor.  They just were strong or in your face, which can be good to some people but I expected a bit more of a hoppy taste to it.  The sweetness to it was nice but just needed something to balance it out right.  If you like slightly sweeter Pale Ales you may like this one.

    Overall Grade – C

    Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale

Name – Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale
    Country – England
    Type – English Brown Ale

Appearance – Poured a medium brown to very dark red color.  Had an ever so slightly tan head.

Smell – A sweet nutty smell with slight hints of caramel and toffee.

Taste – Starts off with a sweet creamy taste of toffee mixed with so roasted hints.  Finishes with a nice hoppy flavor that isn’t overpowering.  Finishes crisp and clean.

Sam Smith hits another home run with the Nut Brown Ale.  From appearance on down to the taste they just know how to make a really good brew.  Highly recommended.

    Overall Grade – A
