    Palo Santo Marron

    Name – Palo Santo Marron
    Country – United States
    Type – American Brown Ale

Appearance – Pours a jet black color that has some dark red hues here and there.  There is a small brown line of a head but it is gone pretty quickly.

Smell – An oaky and smokey smell mixed with some dark fruit, malts and a bit of the alcohol burn in the nose.

Taste – Sweet dark fruit and malts followed by the oaky flavor from the Palo Santo wood.  There is a vanilla like flavor in there as well and you can taste the 12% ABV but it’s not over powering.

I’ve had this numerous times before but never gave it a review.  Now I got a gallon growler of it at BX Beer Depot on Saturday so I have plenty of it.  It’s a wonderful sipping beer and maybe Brown Ale isn’t the best classification but that is actually what DFH themselves call it.  Sit down and enjoy one

Ommegang BPA – Belgian Style Pale Ale

Name – Ommegang BPA – Belgian Style Pale Ale
    Country – United States
    Type – Belgian Pale Ale

Appearance – Poured a slightly hazy orange color with a big foamy white head.

Smell – The Belgian yeast stands out but you also get some lemony scents and citrus hops along with it.

Taste – Grapefruit and other citrus hops mix well with the yeast.  Lemony and a bit of clove presence there as well.  Very refreshing.

A limited edition brew from the folks at Ommegang this is a very easy to drink Belgian pale ale.  Oh so refreshing.  I think this should have waited a bit to come out for the summer and it would be great after being in the sun all day.  Definitely a must try.

    Baltic Thunder

    Name – Baltic Thunder
    Country – United States
    Type – Baltic Porter

Appearance – Pours a dark brown that had dark red highlights around the edges of the glass.  Finger wide tan head is gone pretty quick.

Smell – The smell is faint but you can pick up some roasted malts and coffee.

Taste – A nice mixture of roasted malts, bitter chocolate, dark fruit, coffee and a ever so slight hoppiness to it.

The latest of the Victory brews to make it’s way down here, it is pretty good Baltic porter.  The flavors all work together really nice.  I wanted to have this when I went to the brewery in December but they didn’t have any then.  I’m glad it got down here.  If you like a good porter then definitely give this a try.
