Bell’s Kalamazoo Stout
Name – Bell’s Kalamazoo Stout
Country – United States
Type – Sweet Stout
Appearance – Poured a deep black color with a tannish head.
Smell – Chocolate is the first smell to hit my nose with some roasted notes in the back.
Taste – Very nice mixture of chocolate and roasted malts with some toffee and coffee flavors in there as well.
I’ve heard ravings about this beer plenty of times before so I went for it and was not disappointed. I was surprised by how prominent the chocolate smells and flavors were in this one. I expected it to be more over baring on the coffee tastes but that was just slightly in the background. A very good stout here.
Overall Grade – A-

I love this beer. Actually, I pretty much enjoy anything by Bells. Have you tried the Expedition stout? The first time I had it was with Mike, 6 years ago…wow.
I enjoy the fact that the dark chocolate and coffee aromas, while up front in the nose, are subdued in the flavor, hitting most in the aftertaste.

I love Two Hearted Ale and really liked Oberon from Bell’s. I have not had Expedition but will try that sometime.

Two Hearted is in the top three IPA for me…great stuff.

I think it is a perfect example of what an IPA should be.
