Great White

13 Mar

Name - Great White
Country - United States
Type - Witbier

Appearance - Pours a hazy, straw yellow color with no head.  I thought I may have just poured the first bottle wrong but the second one was the same.

Smell - A lot going on here.  Smells of citrus, wheat, yeast and almost like a pepper smell.

Taste - Pretty on with the smells.  Big wheat and yeast flavors and almost a sweet bubble gum taste I picked up in there with the citrus.

A very complex white ale we have here with a lot of different things mixed in there with the smells and tastes.  Other than the total lack of head on the beer I would say this is an above average white ale.

Allagash White

26 Feb

Name - Allagash White
Country - United States
Type - White Ale

Appearance - Poured a very hazy straw gold color with a nice white head that laced the glass pretty well.  You can see the yeast floating around in this.

Smell - Combinations of yeast and orange stick out in the smell.

Taste - Pretty much right on with the smell nice orange taste with a wheat/yeast hint to it.

This was a really good all around white ale.  Not to yeasty or overboard with the citrus flavors.  Just right on all of those.  This will definitely be a good one to have during the hot summer.

Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat

26 Sep

Name - Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat
Country - United States
Type - Wheat

Appearance - Light/Mid golden color, comparable to apple juice. No head, even when poured improperly from a bottle.

Smell - An overwhelming smell of cherries. Very aromoatic, similar to liquored cherries. Very appealing, but deceving.

Taste - Great taste, but different from the first time I sampled this beer. I first tried this beer at The Treasure Coast Beer Festival, I may have been to under the influence. I recall the beer being amazing and I raved about it to all my buddies. I was a little dissapointed this time around. Slightly watered down, but still very tasty. Just like the smell the cherries where very obvious in the taste. Lacked a little in the carbonation area, but not bad. Just the mix of watered down and carbonation was not good.

Despite popular belief, Samuel Adams uses real Michigan cherries. Unlike the opinions of certain beer advocates, DAN.

Apologies for Chris’ glass as we were at a different location than normal and not enough proper glassware was available.
