Saranac Imperial IPA

13 Feb

Name - Saranac Imperial IPA
Country - United States
Type - American Double IPA

Appearance - Pours a clear copper color with a foamy white head that is not quite thick but does lace the glass well.

Smell - Big hops in the smell that are a little citrusy.  You can pick up the alcohol in there as well.

Taste - Think lots of malts and lots of hops and that pretty well describes this.  The malts are on the caramel side.  Not for the weak.  You can also taste the alcohol in this one too.

This is a big beer with big flavor.  I’m not sure if I think it is a little overboard though.  It borders to say the least.  If you are into really big hopped beers I would recommend this one.

Overall Grade – C+

Saranac Pale Ale

5 Jul

Name – Saranac (Classic English Pale Ale)
Country
- United States
Type - Pale Ale

Appearance - Mike help me out here? I believe very similar to Killian’s in color! (Mike’s Note: Come on Chris! You also forgot smell)

Taste – I do remember the taste of this Ale, but will not wait so long to post about a beer I am reviewing again. Immediately I noticed a sharp taste, almost tart in flavor. This Ale provided a decent amount of head when poured properly, not just dumped into a pint glass. Had the perfect amount of carbonation and was overall very pleasant. Saranac would be a respectable gaming beer also. As always if you too have sampled this fine Pale Ale let me know your comments and opinions.

Price – Very reasonable $1.45 per bottle.

Teacher Says – B+
