Samuel Smith’s Organically Produced Ale

9 Mar

Name - Samuel Smith’s Organically Produced Ale
Country - England
Type - English Pale Ale

Appearance - Pours a slightly amber color with minimal head that fades fast anyway.

Smell - Some sweet malts with a mix of grains and floral aromas.

Taste - A bread like taste mixed with some slight malts and a bit of a hoppy taste in there as well.

A good well balanced pale ale.  The flavor isn’t very strong and does lack a slight bit but it is still a very good brew.

Brooklyn Pennant Ale ’55

9 Jan

Name - Brooklyn Pennant Ale ’55
Country - United States
Type - American Pale Ale

Appearance - Poured a medium reddish amber color with a nice sized white head.

Smell - Smells weren’t to strong but some malts were there and I could smell a hint of cherry.

Taste - A light sweet malt flavor and some hints of biscuit with a very small amount of hoppiness in the finish.

This is my first Brooklyn beer I have officially reviewed.  I have had some of their stuff at festivals before.  While this one is clean and very smooth I felt it lacked some in flavor.  They just were strong or in your face, which can be good to some people but I expected a bit more of a hoppy taste to it.  The sweetness to it was nice but just needed something to balance it out right.  If you like slightly sweeter Pale Ales you may like this one.

Stoudt’s American Pale Ale

16 Nov

Name - Stoudt’s American Pale Ale
Country - United States
Type - Pale Ale

Appearance - Copper color with a foamy white head.

Smell - Earthy hops smell.

Taste - The taste is pretty along the lines of the smell.  Hoppy but not to bitter.

It wasn’t a bad beer but I couldn’t help but feel that it was missing something.  I couldn’t quite put my finger on it but it just wasn’t complete.  I thought it was decent enough though that I would probably have it again.

Overall Grade – C
