Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy

17 Aug

Name – Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy
Country – United States
Type – Fruit Beer

Appearance – Pours ultra murky pale yellow with a big fluffy white head.

Smell – Well you definitely get lemon.  It actually smell a lot like the lemonade powder you might get at a store to make lemonade.  There is a hint of wheat as well in there.

Taste – Sweet lemonade flavor up front and a that’s really it.

I saw this on the shelves all summer and finally bit on it.  I figured I’d give this beer with lemonade in it a chance.  For what it is the beer isn’t bad.  It is exactly what it says and I can see this being ultra refreshing after working outside or being out in the sun all day.  I know a lot people will poo poo on it and I don’t think it is the best beer by any reach but I think it is straight forward in what it was suppose to be and there is nothing wrong with that.  If you haven’t had it yet I would say just give it a try as the summer is winding down.

Overall Grade – C+

Leinenkugel’s Berry Weiss

17 Sep

Name -Leinenkugel Berry Weiss
Country - United States
Type -Fruit Beer

Appearance - A clear purple-reddish beer. When poured from a bottle produces a thick pink foam. I have had this beer on tap and no head was visible.

Smell -Very berry and sweet. The smell is a combination of honey, raspberry, and blackberry.

Taste -This is one of my most favorite beers. I have been enjoying it for a long time, but have never reviewed it before. It has a very sweet light berry flavor and is not for everyone. It is not very strong, but is great in any occasion. Has a perfect amount of carbonation. Would recommend that everyone try this beer once.

I will be review the rest of the Leinenkugel family soon. They have just released their own version of Octoberfest.

Overall Grade- A+

Leinenkugel’s adds new seasonal beer

3 Aug

Specialty beer maker Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. said Friday that it will introduce a new seasonal beer in November — Leinenkugel’s Fireside Nut Brown.

The new amber-toned brew will feature roasted malt character. English two-row malts provide the lager with a maple aroma and pronounced chocolate, caramel and hazelnut top notes, the Chippewa Falls craft brewer said.

Fireside Nut Brown will be available during November and December in six, 12- and 24-pack bottles and on draft.

The beer will replace the seasonal Leinenkugel’s Apple Spice, which was launched in the fall of 2005, according to Brew Blog, a Web site operated by Leinenkugel’s owner MillerCoors LLC.
