Hennepin

24 Feb

Name - Hennepin
Country - United States
Type - Saison

Appearance - Poured a slightly hazy golden straw color with a big white head.

Smell - Sweet smells of apple and pear are big with some hints of yeast present.

Taste - As with many Belgian styled beers the taste pretty much is on with the smell. Apples, pears, sweet malts and some hops. A little yeasty.

I’ve had a few Belgian styles lately and continued it up with this one from Brewery Ommegang. I’ve had a few beers that say saison on the bottle but are technically classified otherwise. This is the first one that I have seen that is actually classified as a saison. I really enjoyed this one as with others in this style. It hides the alcohol content pretty well so that could sneak up on you.

Overall Grade – A
