Full Sail Wassail

22 Jan

Name – Full Sail Wassail
Country – United States
Type – Winter Warmer

Appearance – Poured a very deep reddish brown color.  It really depends at what angle you look at it that it will look more red or more brown.  Thin off white head is gone pretty quickly.

Smell – Quite sweet malts with some spice being picked up.

Taste – Sweet caramel and straight up maltiness.  There is not a lot of spices going on compared to most winter warmers.

While it didn’t have as much spice to it that you would think from a winter warmer I still enjoyed the maltiness of this one.  It was sweet and enjoyable to sip on.  One of the better winter warmers I have had this season.

Overall Grade – B+

Full Sail IPA

12 May

Name – Full Sail IPA
Country – United States
Type – American IPA

Appearance – Poured a very clear amber color that had a decent sized white head.  It had a decent amount of lacing to it.

Smell – Piney hops dominate the nose with some citrus notes in the back.

Taste – Pine hops are at the forefront of this one with minor citrus tastes.  Really not a whole lot going on with the malts.  Just hops and hops.

I’ll be the first to admit I like hoppy beers but this one just really didn’t have much of anything else besides the piney hop flavor and smell to it.

Overall Grade – D+
