Boont Amber Ale

15 Sep

Name – Boont Amber Ale
Country – United States
Type – American Red Ale

Appearance – Pours a pretty hazy deep copper color with a nice white head that left a little lacing.

Smell – Sweet malts dominate the nose.  They aren’t overpowering but the most dominant smell there.  Caramel and slight apple smell in there.

Taste – Sweet caramel malts with a slight nut like flavor as well.  Subtle bit of hops towards the end.

This was my second venture to a Anderson Valley brew and it was very pleasant.  Very smooth and easy to drink with a good flavor to it.  I would find this to be a decent session beer and I will definitely have it again.

Overall Grade – B+

Hop Ottin’ IPA

7 Jul

Name – Hop Ottin’ IPA
Country – United States
Type – American India Pale Ale

Appearance – Poured a clear orangish color with a nice white head that left good lacing on the glass.

Smell – Citrus and floral hops are prominent.

Taste – Big hops taste that is similar to the smell.  Slight caramel taste in there as well.

My local store has been beginning to bring in more Anderson Valley brews so I felt as a fan of IPAs I would have to pick this one up.  I was quite happy with it overall.  To me it borders the DIPA area as it is 7% ABV and has a bigger hop punch than most single IPAs.

Overall Grade – A
