Avery Anniversary Ale – Fifteen

29 Jul

Name – Avery Anniversary Ale – Fifteen
Country – United States
Type – Wild Ale

Appearance – Poured a clear amber color with a bubbly white head that wasn’t around for too long.

Smell – Possibly one of the most complex noses I’ve ever had in a beer.  Picking up granny smith apples, cherries, raisins, dates and some spices.

Taste – Much like the smell it is very complex with mostly all the same notes as the nose.  A little tartness to it is very nice and not much in the way of hops.  It was already a year old when I bought it so it may have subsided in that area.

This is the last in the reviews from my trip to Arizona.  I was absolutely shocked to see this on the shelf right next to this year’s anniversary ale.  I figured I had to pick this up and try it and quite glad I did.  There is just so many good things going on in this beer from the smell to the taste.  A very well thought out and made beer.  If you for any reason can grab a bottle in your area do so.  If it wasn’t on my trip I would have gotten another bottle to try and age more.

Overall Grade – A
