Dale’s Pale Ale BBQ Chicken Breast

Recently fellow Philadelphia area transplant and South Florida beer blogger Chalie over at Mug of Saint Arnold made a roasted chicken using Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale.  So it got me thinking.  I have some Dale’s still left in my fridge, so why not use it.

I took mine in a different direction and used chicken breasts instead of the whole chicken.  I started with a dry rub that included salt, pepper, onion powder, brown sugar, galic powder, cayenne pepper, lemon peel and paprika.  I sauteeded some onions in some vegatable oil for a few minutes before putting the chicken in the pan.  After quickly grilling the outsides of each side I added half a can of Dale’s Pale Ale, some of my mom’s homemade BBQ sauce (vinegar based) and a few squirts of lemon and soy sauce.

I served it with Jasmine rice and put the sauteed onions and some of the liquid from the pan over top of the chicken for the finishing touches.  Then I enjoyed along with a Dale’s.  It came out well if I do say so myself.  Something I’ll have to make for my family one day.  Again thanks to Chalie for the idea.  Everyone should go checkout his site.  He very much enjoys the pairing of food and beer as much as I do.
