Hoppe
1 Apr
Name – Hoppe
Country – United States
Type – American Double IPA
Appearance – Poured a very clear orange color with a good sized white head that left some lacing on the glass.
Smell – Some hoppy and bready notes but overall the aroma is pretty calm.
Taste – It has some citrus hops to it but also a yeast like taste that is almost Belgian in style. There is some bready like notes to it as well and it is kind of dry.
The bottle says Extra Pale Ale. The classification I read was American DIPA and then it has an almost Belgian IPA quality to it. So I guess call it what you will. This is probably the most lackluster of the Southern Tier brews I have tried so far. Not to say it is in anyways bad but just not what I was expecting. I still prefer it’s bigger brother Unearthly.
Overall Grade – B-
