Name – Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock
Country – Germany
Type – Doppelbock
Appearance – Poured a very dark brown with a big tan head that left some lacing on the glass.
Smell – Sweet and roasted malts with a cherry like smell as well.
Taste – Sweet malts, roasted malts, bready malts. Did I mention malts? A sweet cherry flavor in there and some caramel to boot. A hint of chocolate in there as well.
Ayinger is probably the biggest German brewer I haven’t had, until this one. I don’t know why it took me so long to pick anything of theirs up but I’m glad I did. Celebrator is a very good, if not great, doppelbock. So malty and tasty. Very glad I finally got this but disappointed in myself that it took so long to finally have it.
Overall Grade – A

One of my favorite beers. Love buying a case and keeping all the goats lined up on a bookshelf.
February 25, 2010 at 9:26 amI absolutely love this beer. I’ll even drink it on a hot and humid summer day. Cherry flavor for sure. My kids always try to convince me to buy this when we peruse the beer aisle because they want the plastic goat.

February 25, 2010 at 12:17 pmI’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve tried from Ayinger, strangely I haven’t tried Celebrator! I’ve gotta get with it!
February 25, 2010 at 1:04 pmThe best Double Bock I’ve had. Their have a Brau-Weisse and a Wheat-Bock that are great. Here’s the story of the goat. http://thankheavenforbeer.com/2008/11/17/style-series-bock-to-the-future/ By the way, if you ever get out this way, for some reason, we can have it on tap together…yum!
February 25, 2010 at 1:05 pm@Mike I’m definitely going to pick up their other stuff. Oh I will definitely come out there sometime. I’ve always wanted to visit SoCal.
