Samuel Adams Cranberry Lambic
4 Jan
Name – Samuel Adams Cranberry Lambic
Country – United States
Type – Fruit Beer
Appearance – Poured a quite murky copper color with no head at all. Both bottles I had brought forth no head.
Smell – Very faint cranberry smell. It isn’t hard to pick up but it is very weak. Not much else.
Taste – A tart cranberry taste up front followed by……nothing really. It just seems to sputter and fall at the very beginning.
I’ll be honest and say I have heard bad things about this one in the past and I tried to look past it for my review. Unfortunately my attempts at putting those things out of my head were thwarted upon actually drinking it. It lacks any real qualities of a lambic as it is like drinking watered down cranberry juice. A real disappointment but really the only major let down of the holiday pack.
Overall Grade – D-

Agreed. I have no idea why Sam keeps making this stuff. Quite possibly the worst beer ever.

Nail on the head…it has none of the qualities of a real lambic because it isn’t one. How they feel okay with putting that on the bottle is beyond me.
They would definitely be better off calling it cranberry ale or something like that but not lambic. This is a mystery as to why Boston Beer continues to make this.
Sounds like a beer I’ll be skipping! Thanks Mike for taking one for the team!
Totally agree with you. a completely disappointing lambic. flumbled all around. I had it a couple of months ago at my moms house and could only drink about 2/3 of the bottle before I got sick of it. It took an effort to get that far. It’s too bad, they could have made a nice gateway beer into the style.
See Boston Beer, people don’t like this. Either drop it or do a better job. We know you can do it!
I have to join the chorus on this one…definitely a sink worthy beer. I can’t buy the sampler pack just because it is in there.
Sorry, guys, but I’ll go against the trend here. It’s Sam Adams best. The tartness is really very nicely done, and it lingers well.
