Stone Considering Opening a Brewery in Europe
22 Dec
Stone put out this video today pretty much stating that they are open to potentially opening a brewery in Europe. Pretty interesting stuff if they actually find the right offer and go forward with it.

I’ve seen some adverse reactions to this – http://stlhops.com/stone-europe-yes-missouri-no
I guess the initial thought is that there are still places in the US where stone isn’t available, so Europe should suffer until the entire US is soaked in Stone. I completely disagree, and think it’s cool of Stone.
Besides, slight obscurity IS something that makes the product of the craft industry appealing and cherished.
I think they should brew in Poland, which currently boasts the most rapidly growing economy in Europe.
I can understand some people’s thoughts about them not being in every market of the US. The same goes for Yuengling you could say of sorts. They have two facilities in PA and one in FL but are only in 12 states I believe.
I completely agree with your thoughts on the craft industry being slightly hard to get. I think that helps make breweries what they are. We just got Stone down here November 2008 and the fact they weren’t here for awhile made them even more popular. Same goes for breweries like New Belgium and the Bruery for me right now. I can’t readily get them and makes them more popular to me.
Oh yeah and also I say if they believe they can do it then do it!
New update on this according to Greg’s tweet yesterday they have a company in France that wants to pair with them….negotiations have started…..seems to be more of a reality than a lot of people thought!
