B.O.R.I.S. The Crusher Oatmeal-Imperial Stout

18 Nov

Name – B.O.R.I.S. The Crusher Oatmeal-Imperial Stout
Country – United States
Type – Russian Imperial Stout

Appearance – Poured an ink black color with a nice tan head.

Smell – Mostly roasted malts and chocolate that I pick up.

Taste – Roasted nuts, chocolate, vanilla and a slight taste of oats at the end.

Another grab from my trip to Orlando, I have heard of B.O.R.I.S. (Bodacious Oatmeal Russian Imperial Stout) for quite some time.  It was also a Gold Medal winner at the 2008 Great American Beer Festival.  It is a very good stout that has a lot of flavors mixed in there, probably even more that I didn’t pick up.  I would also say that it masks the 9.4% alcohol pretty well too so watch out for that.

Overall Grade – B

Not a big fan of this one. B- maybe. I’ll have to look at my notes for it but I remember thinking it was too hoppy and bitter.

I have never heard of this beer, but I love the acronym and your description makes me want to try it.
