HeBrew Jewbelation Bar Mitzvah 13

Name – HeBrew Jewbelation Bar Mitzvah 13
Country – United States
Type – Belgian Strong Dark Ale

Appearance – Pours a very dark black color with a big light brown head.

Smell – It has a boozy smell to it with hints of smokiness, wood and vanilla.

Taste – Vanilla, cherries, wood, caramel and a bit of smoke is what I’m picking up.  There is definitely a big alcohol bite at the end but it doesn’t linger very long.

The 13th anniversary ale from another brewery this year, Stone and Lagunitas were this year as well, and 13 was the theme for the beer.  Thirteen different malts used, thirteen different hops and big 13% ABV on it and slap the name Bar Mitzvah on it and the great folks a Shmaltz came up with another beer that is cheeky in name but nothing but quality in it’s beer.  I enjoyed though couldn’t see myself having more than one in a night with the big ABV on it.  It has a sort of stout like quality to it as it is quite heavy as well.

Overall Grade – B+

I am a tad jealous. I still have a 12 in my cellar. I am pretty anxiously awaiting this to hit the shelves around here.

Hey guys. This is Zak Davis from Shmaltz Brewing Company. Lucky that you were able to find a bottle of Jewbelation Bar Mitzvah so quickly. It hasn’t even made it out west yet. Glad you enjoyed it. Hope you were able to save a bottle to age for a couple of years.

Mike, I think you’re thinking of the Bittersweet Lenny’s R.I.P.A., our rye-based double IPA.

Thanks for stopping by again Zak. After I picked up a bottle I noticed online that it hadn’t been out all that long. That surprises me because we usually get everything last in the US.

I’m already a fan of Lenny’s but I think I was thinking of Jewbelation 11 on Rye.

Sounds pretty good, I love the big boozy Belgian dark ales. The sounds much better then the Stone and somehow I missed the Lagunitas. Have to put it on this weeks shopping list if it is still around.

They still have it down here. It’s pretty close to the same style as Stone’s 13th.
