Monk in the Trunk

Name – Monk in the Trunk
Country – United States
Type – American Red Ale

Appearance – Pours a very clear amber color with a nice sized white head that actually stuck around for a little while.

Smell – Malty with hints of cinnamon and other spices.  Slight fruity smell of dark fruits.

Taste – Nice sweet malty taste with dark fruits, slight bit of chocolate and spices coming out.

I’ve review other Florida brewed beers before but this one is truly local to me.  Inlet Brewing is the only technical brewery in my county in nearby Jupiter, FL and I have had their brew before at fests.  It is just now getting into stores so I picked up a six pack to help out.  It is completely USDA and CCOF Organic certified as well.  It is a really good straight forward red ale with flavor and good enough to be an excellent session beer.  Being in South Florida we don’t really have a lot of brewers or beer culture.  But Monk in the Trunk reminds me that we are getting there.

Overall Grade – A-

I went there once and had what they called an imperial porter. It wasn’t bad. I know they make a double IPA that I heard it good but they were out of it when I went. I’d be down to go again sometime.
