Coney Island Albino Python

Name – Coney Island Albino Python
Country – United States
Type – American Pale Lager

Appearance – Pours a slightly hazy orangish yellow color with a foamy white head.

Smell – Lemon and other spices hit the nose immediately.

Taste – There is a big spice presence that seems to stick around through out the taste.  Some citrus hints, especially lemon, mix in there with a slight hoppiness to give it some bitter qualities.

This one was quite the different beer to me.  I have never had lager with these white ale qualities in it.  I enjoyed the refreshing qualities of it out in the oven like heat of Arizona last week.  Another good one from the guys at Shmaltz.

Overall Grade – B

Hey there. This is Zak from Shmaltz. Thanks so much for checking out the Albino Python. It is definitely a unique beer. I hear that a lot. Where’d you pick it up in Arizona? I was out there last week. Hung out at Papago in Scottsdale and then Sun Devil in Mesa. Cheers!

Thanks for stopping by again Zak. I picked it up at Total Wine in Glendale. I was staying in Peoria. I really wanted to go over to Papago because I heard good things. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it over there.

Bummer. It was a good time. Next week, that Total Wine should be getting Sword Swallower. They haven’t carried it before.

Any chance of getting some of that down at any of the Palm Beach County locations? Boynton Beach, Boca Raton or Palm Beach Gardens?

Boca Raton, like Florida? They should be carrying it. Check out http://shmaltz.com/HEBREW/distributors.html for some possibilities. Otherwise, drop me an email and I can put you in touch with our guy who works out there.

Yeah Florida, sorry I didn’t mention. The one by my house (Boynton Beach) only carries Genesis, Messiah and Lenny’s. I’ll venture to Boca to see if they have any of the Coney Island ones there.

If they’re carrying the HE’BREW stuff at the place near your house, they should be able to bring in the Coney Island Lagers as well. Just ask them and they may bring it in for you.

I had a bottle of this at the British Beer Company in Massachusetts. Definitely a hoppier than I expected, but that is not a bad thing at all. I sensed a grapefruity type hop taste. A good balance to it overall. I had never heard of this particular brew before, but it’s one I’d order again.
