Name – St. Bernardus Prior 8
Country – Belgium
Type – Dubbel
Appearance – Poured a deep red almost brown color with a slightly tan, bubbly head.
Smell – Sweet smells of grapes and raisins and slight smell of alcohol that burns the nostrils a bit.
Taste – Pretty on with what you get from the smell. Sweet malts and the taste of the raisins and grapes. Slight alcohol burn at the end.
I found this one to be a lot like the Pater 6 that I previously review but with a slightly more alcohol taste to it. Still not bad.
Overall Grade – B

It looks like Coca Cola…what are you trying to pull on us Mike?
I really need to pick up their sampler. I love darker belgians, and I actually enjoy the alcohol flavor burn at the end.

Sometimes it isn’t bad. It wasn’t bad on this one either. You really should pick it up. The Abt 12 is great and I still have to do the trippel.
May 15, 2009 at 1:52 pmThe 8 is not bad . . . I agree with the B rating. The 12 however is by far an A+. If you can get the sampler pack and try them all together, go for it; it is worth the money!
