Double Simcoe IPA

Name – Double Simcoe IPA
Country – United States
Type – American Double IPA

Appearance – Pours a deep red color with a big slightly tan head that leaves a lot of lacing on the glass.

Smell – The smell is hoppy with pine and citrus notes.

Taste – Big earthy and piney hops with a good sweet malt backing to it.

I just love when I have a good to great IPA or DIPA and this one gave me that feeling.  Straight forward and just what you would like from an DIPA.  Not the best but definitely does it’s job well.

Overall Grade – B+

I had this on tap at Firewaters in Atlantic City NJ. I really didn’t get that loving DIPA feeling from this beer then. Don’t know if it was the taps or the fact we’d destroyed our palette with numerous other beers before, but this beer left me with a similiar feeling you described above. I’d been thinking about trying it again when I see it in my local store, but I’ve yet to be compelled.

Thanks for stopping by. While tap beer is usually better you can get bad lines so I would recommend checking it out on bottle if you can get your hands on it.

I just had Mikkeller’s Simcoe Single IPA not too long ago. Very Good! I need to look for this. Moylan’s Double IPA is pretty good, too.

I have never seen either of those before. I hate being down here and missing out on so many good beers just because they aren’t distributed down here. But at least a local store told me that they should be getting distribution with Fat Tire soon. I have heard a lot of them.

if you want IBU overload, try the laughing dog Alpha Dog IIPA (127 ibu). It’s actually a pretty well balanced beer.

Again another one that I’ve never seen and probably can’t get my hands on down here. Will have a lot to buy on my next trip to PA.
