Name – Maudite
Country – Canada
Type – Belgian Strong Dark Ale

Appearance – Pours a slightly transparent copper/amber color with a fluffy white head.

Smell – Smells were of sweet malts, caramel and slight bit of apple.

Taste – Sweet caramel with some background tastes of spices, yeast and a slight alcohol bite.

This was my second Unibroue brew and so far they are 2 for 2 on good beers.  The overall of this was just really good from the appearance to the good smells finishing with the great taste.

Overall Grade – A

We recently reviewed this one as well, and I had never heard of this brand from Quebec. Really good beer in the strong Belgian Ale style. I’m going to try their other stuff when I can as they seem to know what they are doing. Maudite is one of the most interesting beers I’ve had so far this year.

I know you seem to like the white ales a bit so you should definitely try Blanche de Chambly from them at some point.
