St. Bernardus Abt 12

27 Jan

Name - St. Bernardus Abt 12
Country - Belgium
Type - Quadrupel

Appearance - A brownish color with some red highlights here and there. Very thin white head on it.

Smell - Lots of sweet fruit smells going on with hints of grape, apples and pears.

Taste - Very full body to it with lots of sweet malt flavors. Those fruit flavors are present in the taste as well. Very slight taste of alcohol.

I have long been told of St. Bernardus Abt 12 and finally took the time to give it a try. Had this at the Yardhouse in Palm Beach Gardens after the failed Jupiter Festival. I was extremely caught off guard by this as I was not expecting such a presence of fruit flavors and smells in it. It was good definitely but the fruit was a little too overpowering for my taste. I would definitely have it again when I visit there and maybe pick up a bottle on the occasion.

Overall Grade – B-

Nice write up. I’ve been on a bit of a Belgian beer streak and I’ve been meaning to try this one too. Those Belgians really make some good stuff, don’t they?
